Invasive Species: Revisited
The prevalence of invasive plant species around the world has created an unprecedented ecological crisis. This lecture offers a discussion about how to define, identify, confront and manage the spread of invasive species without the use of harmful chemical herbicides.
The prevalence of invasive plant species around the world has created an unprecedented ecological crisis. Non-native plants, whether or not they have been transplanted by humans, can proliferate to such a degree that they may threaten or eliminate indigenous species. Most ecological experts agree that invasive plant species should be eradicated at all cost.
What is the viability of the popular approach to invasive species removal, and are there any more regenerative, effective alternatives? In this discussion, we’ll cover a brief history of flora/fauna migration, and attempt to clarify the characteristics of a native or invasive species of plant or animal. The conversation will address the connection between large-scale ecological restoration and the pharmaceutical industry, and will range into management strategies that can be performed by individuals around the world.
